Pilates In The Park – Mobility & Stability For Runners

Pilates is an important step in assisting runners to improve performance and reduce risk of injury.

Pilates In The Park is back for 2018, with two 6am sessions every week both located in the park with the sun rising at Lake Monger.  This 8 week Pilates intensive block commences Tuesday 16th October.

Class Options (8 weeks commencing 16th October, choose 1 or 2 sessions per week): –

Session 1: Commencing Tuesday 16th October –
Pilates In The Park: Mobility (60 min every Tuesday 6am)

This 60 min class is perfect for runners who would like to work on muscular stretch with strength and control, under the guidance of a Physiotherapist.  Mobility training can improve joint range of motion and flexibility of muscles.  It can be used to reduce stiffness, recover from injury, improve musculoskeletal conditions, reduce injury risk and favourably influence performance.  In this class, we will move our bodies through varied postures and stretches used in Yoga and Pilates.  Using simple equipment, you will learn how to release key groups of muscles.  Attend weekly to keep your muscles supple, lengthened and oxygenated.

Session 2: Commencing Friday 19th October –
Pilates In The Park: Stability (60 min every Friday 6am)

Stability is a critical aspect of sport performance. It incorporates strength, coordination and balance. Having sufficient muscular activation helps you to handle changes in speed and direction and manage uneven surfaces, while minimizing injury. In this class, we will use a variety of weight-bearing exercises and simple tools that will build muscular endurance and maintain strong bones. This class is perfect for all runners who wish to build strength while still maintaining muscular integrity, under the guidance of a Physiotherapist.
