Rodgers and Kawauchi win in Shizuoka

Front Runner elite athlete Rochelle Rodgers joined 2018 Boston Marathon winner, Yuki Kawauchi on the top step of the 2019 Shizuoka Marathon.

The event continues to grow and this year hosted over 12,000 marathon runners who traversed the flat and fast course through the

Shizuoka Prefecture to finish at the foot of Mt Fuji. Kawauchi crossed the line in a time of 2.13.41 while Rodgers lowered her personal best by 9min and achieved the IAAF A standard for the 2019 Doha IAAF World Athletics Championships with her time of 2.34.45.

Rodgers has made significant recent advances, recording a personal best at the Half Marathon of 1.15.48 prior to her Marathon breakthrough. After many years of progressing at a state and then domestic front, her time shows positive movement towards her goal of international representation.
